Alumni Perspectives
“To be honest, I was very lost on the whole transfer process previous to TSI. Now I feel like I have a much better set of tools and connections to help get myself ready for a 4-year school.”
“My experiences at Princeton have opened my eyes up to many aspects of the academic and social pieces of transferring. It gave me more confidence in my ability to perform at a highly rigorous level and settled my feelings of not being able to fit in at such a prestigious institution as a transfer student from a community college. I solidified my want to pursue research, especially in an environment like Princeton, and opened doors in higher education that I previously thought were inaccessible from community college.”

“TSI gave me the building blocks I need to start figuring out what I want my future to look like. I've learned how to put my big feelings and lofty aspirations into words, and those words into plans.”

“The TSI team made it very hard to feel like an outsider even for me as a commuter. The extracurricular events promoted collaboration regarding academic success with other students. The community events that were held were a fun way to destress and talk to one another about topics other than academics. The 1-on-1 with the TSI staff was a great way to get to know them and receive individual feedback.”
“Through TSI, I came to realize that the transfer process is not as black and white as I initially thought. There are multiple steps required to have a successful transfer process, and I am very grateful to have learned all these steps during the weekly Transfer Success Programming sessions that we had. It was also extremely helpful to have admissions officers come over to speak to us and answer our questions.”

“TSI opened my eyes to many things. It helped me finally make a decision in what I want to do educationally and what new goals I have set concerning my future career path. TSI altered my original plans, but I personally feel that this was a wonderful change.”

“I feel like I'm leaving here a much better student. Not only did I develop new learning skills, but I developed an internal monologue with myself and boundaries to keep me mentally healthy. I also feel much less afraid to take advantage of things like office hours and ask for help when I'm struggling. I feel much more confident with the idea of transferring and choosing four-year schools that meet my own criteria.”

“I can't emphasize enough how amazing this program has been for me. From the bottom of my heart I thank everyone involved for the opportunity you all have given me. I wouldn't know where I would be without you; I'm glad that I was here.”
